Run in the Redwoods 5K returns to Prairie Creek Redwoods SP in less than a month

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – Time is running out to register for one of the most scenic fun runs in the country. Redwood Parks Conservancy (RPC), in partnership with California State Parks and the National Park Service, invites runners, walkers, and nature lovers to the 13th Annual Run in the Redwoods 5K Walk & Fun Run on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.

With less than a month to go, participants are encouraged to sign up soon to secure a spot on the course beneath towering old-growth redwoods. All proceeds support conservation, education, and visitor programs across Redwood National and State Parks and surrounding public lands. The event begins with a series of staggered start times, followed by a celebratory gathering at the Prairie Creek Visitor Center featuring music and light refreshments (weather permitting).

When:

Saturday, April 4, 2026. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

Race starts:

10:00 a.m. – Fast Heat (under 7-minute miles)

10:15 a.m. – Middle Heat (7–10 minute miles)

10:30 a.m. – Last Heat (10+ minute miles and walkers)

Note: Exit 765 (North Newton B. Drury Parkway) from Klamath and Crescent City will be closed for Hike and Bike Day. Use Exit 753 from Highway 101 for the south entrance of North Newton B. Drury Parkway.

Limited-edition shirts will also be available for purchase at the event while supplies last. Please note there are no refunds, as proceeds directly support Redwood Parks Conservancy projects in Redwood National and State Parks.

Volunteers of all abilities needed:

Volunteers assist with simple roles such as finish line support, course direction, traffic safety, and event setup. No running required — just a love for the redwoods and a willingness to help.
